I found out about Jones from a friend of mine. I trust them to work on my 2004 MINI Cooper that I bought brand new. When the dealer quoted me $2500 for a new a/c compressor, belt and flush/refill, Jones got the job done for $1500 because Jones was able to replace only the faulty compressor clutch. The car didn't need a whole new compressor, but most shops including the dealer want to charge you for the whole compressor/clutch assembly. That was a couple years ago and the a/c has worked fine ever since. Jones also did the whole job in one day. Ron, the owner, dropped me off at work and picked me up at the end of the day to get the car! When my car finally needed a new transmission clutch after 120,000 miles, I trusted Jones to do the job. I was also quote from the dealer something like $3300. Jones did it for $1400 or so as I recall and Jones only took two days to get the job done. I also didn't need to pay for a new double fly wheel that the dealer installs as a mandatory part of any clutch R&R as a matter of insurance. I know I don't need a new one, so why pay for it? Jones gave me the option to install a new one, though, of course--the part alone is like $500, but I declined. The dealer doesn't give you the option just like the dealer doesn't give you the option of changing only the compressor clutch, instead of the whole compressor/clutch assembly. Even if I still wanted to go with the dealer, the dealer wasn't even able to schedule the repair within two weeks!!! I would have had to rent a car, have my wife drive me to work, or take my bicycle for two weeks in order to accommodate the dealer's schedule. Going with Jones was a no-brainer--a huge savings in time and money. At the same time I had Jones do the transmission clutch, I also had him install new parking brake cables, which had worn and were causing the rear brakes to drag. I just looked Jones up again because after driving to work through downtown Hartford every day, the exhaust system has come rattled loose again. This is the second time for this car. I had it repaired at the dealer last time. I think it has lasted about four years. I found out that Ron no longer runs the business, but he still owns it. But Ron has great people working for him and the shop looks very professional, so I still expect the same great service and quality.
